The Mother

The Mother

“It’s hard to argue against cynics – they always sound smarter than optimists because they have so much evidence on their side.”  Molly Ivins

There is a reason why the cynics are right nine times out of ten.  While cynicism can be the opposite of creativity, no ideas can work if they are not put into practical actions.  Putting ideas into practical actions require that we keep in touch with our practical and rational thinking mind while innovating.  Just not at the same time.  The Mother represents authority figures whose job during creative problem solving is to find weaknesses in a solution or scheme.  Instead of viewing them as the “enemy”, they should be considered “allies”.   To present solutions to them successfully requires that we take into consideration the kind of fears, reservations and objections they might have.  A good way to work with a cynic is to gather more evidence on your side!
